According to various resources and research, the area around Delhi was probably abided before the second millennium BCE and there are proofs of continuous inhabitation since at least the 6th century BCE. The city is said to be the site of the legendary capital of the Pandavas, Indraprastha, in the Indian epic Mahabharata. This land was initially a huge mass of forests called ‘Khandavaprastha’, according to the legend of Mahabharat which was destroyed to build the city of Indraprastha.
